Art Appreciation Mima Visit.

Many thanks to Mary who organised our visit to Mima to view the paintings and ceramics held in their archives. We were shown some of the paintings and given information on them by the assistant curator. Star of the show was a small painting by Lowry initially costing £60 now valued at £750,000. Unfortunately cannot show picture of it as they are for private use only.

We then viewed the ceramics with some rather weird stuff amongst the decent bits. The assistant curator allowed us to inspect the paintings at our leisure. Mary also made a list of our favourites to join the list that Mima is compiling from the public who have seen the archived paintings. The most voted for will be displayed in a later exhibition.

After the viewing we made our way into the refurbished cafe for our usual coffee’s etc. The new tables are an excellent design. What can I say about the chairs very beautiful and extremely tactile must have cost a fortune.

Looking forward to returning to Mima at a later date to see what paintings have been selected.
