Thank you George for posting my poems on the web-site and Carol for taking the trouble to print and laminate my Norwegian poems. If anyone is interested in where I derived my inspiration from some of the deeper concepts I am always available for translation of my thoughts and adopted or adaptive muse. Better still, come to the poetry group on the third Wednesday of the month at 10.30am in our humble abode to discuss and read poetry relating to a chosen topic. Next meeting 18th July 2018. Subject Hope. We still have at least one more seat available.
A big thank you to everyone who commented on the poems at the meeting today; good critical feedback can be so encouraging and helpful, keep it up.
Thanks ta,
Robert and Margaret

Another exceptional U3A trip away organised by Gordon. Even the intermittent rain didn't spoil the 2 days. The afternoon in Liverpool was really good - we 'ferried across the Mersey' as well as admiring buildings and local attractions in the city. The hotel was out of the way but had everything we needed and of course good company. Tatton Park was better than expected but would have been a different experience again if the sun had shone. Watching it later on TV we all realised we had only seen a fraction of the exhibits as we resorted to diving into the closest marquee to avoid the showers. Nevertheless we enjoyed every minute. Huge thanks to Gordon for organising the trip in his usual efficient manner and for making the actual journey so much fun with badges, pocket money, chocolate, fun raffle and picture quiz!
A great couple of days away with good friends.

To all walking group members, here is some information for our walk at Plessey Woods on Friday 5th May.

Driving directions: Follow A19 North through Tyne Tunnel and continue on A19 until he roundabout just before joining the A1. Take 4th exit A1068 (next exit past services) signposted Bedlington, and continue on this road straight on over 2 roundabouts until you reach Hartford Bank where the road dips down and turns left over Hartford Bridge. Immediately after the bridge take next left onto Shields Road signposted Plessey Woods Country Park and Morpeth. Follow the road for 200 yards and car park is signposted on the left.

Parking is free and we'll meet in the car park at 11:00. Unfortunately the cafe only opens weekends and school holidays, so please bring a packed lunch. Toilets are available at visitor centre near car park. Walk is moderate and lasts approx. 1.5 - 2.0 hrs. I suggest we have our lunch after walk but, we can stop half way for a break and refreshment if required. Any questions or problems please call me on 07818034615. Looking forward to seeing you all on the day. Fred
