Afternoon Tea Out on Friday 17th April 2015

The Red Hatters Group will be organising an afternoon tea out at

Beamish Hall Country House Hotel

Tea Rooms

The Eden Tearooms situated on the first floor here at Best Western Beamish Hall, offers a classic, quintessentially English afternoon tea in fabulous Edwardian surroundings with perfect views out over the rolling parkland & estate.

Offering a classic afternoon tea, alongside a selection of individual cakes, sandwiches & pastries, our menu stays true to tradition and all cakes & scones are baked onsite, overnight, by our in-house baker and served by our lovely afternoon tea ladies bringing true service with a smile.

With a monthly changing menu, we’ve ensured our regular visitors going do not get tired of the same cakes and we’ve rarely seen a guest leave the tearooms having finished everything placed upon their three tiered cake stand, we have a steady supply of doggy bags available for you to take any unfinished items home with you.

We can accommodate group bookings of up to 20 and also offer private afternoon tea’s across our many function rooms. We can cater for up to 280 guests should you know that many people who like cake – a realistic expectation, we think!

Cost of afternoon tea £12.50.Tea will be reserved for 3:00pm red hats and purple attire order of the day. Own transport to and from Beamish is required.

Trip to Edinburgh
Seaham U3A Red Hatters Group Proposed Train Trip to Edinburgh on Tuesday 6th October 2015.

Travel from Sunderland to Edinburgh by Train–Times and prices below are approximate but given as a guide.

Train Times

Depart Sunderland 09.47-Arrive Edinburgh 12.03

Depart Edinburgh 18.30- Arrive Sunderland 20.50

Approximate cost at present £39.00 per person return (this will probably go lower as you can only purchase train tickets 3 months in advance so the price is reflected if we were to book this trip in March).

Itinerary:

When we arrive in Edinburgh for those wishing to take part in a Murder Mystery on the Edinburgh Mile please join the group – approximate time of walk 75 minutes.  If this is not your thing then enjoy free time to explore historic Edinburgh.  All members will make their own arrangements for lunch.

It is proposed that we all meet at a venue (to be advised at later date) and enjoy a cocktail/refreshments before we head off back to the station to catch our train back to Sunderland.  Red hats and purple attire order of the day.
Future red hatter events – we are hoping to arrange a trip out to enjoy a free concert at Sage Gateshead.  We will look at up and coming dates and this will be passed on to Red Hatter members.  Also on our agenda for the year we would like to arrange a picnic at the beach or in the park – again watch out for dates – these of course will be free events.  We will keep members informed of what the Red Hatters are up to and watch out for details at our U3A meetings.
