From Seaham get onto the A19 Northbound and continue until you reach the A1231
Washington junction. Follow the A1231 west towards Washington and continue over the big roundabout (intersection with the A182) to the end of the A1231 following signs to A1M. Join the A1M and continue on this, past the Angel of the North, Team Valley Industrial Estate, Metro Centre then take the next exit signposted Gibside (National Trust) which takes you onto The A694 to Rowlands Gill. After you pass Winlaton Mill and the Red Kite pub continue for about 1/2 mile to Thornley Woodlands Centre, NE39 1AU, entrance on the left. Park free of charge in the visitor centre car park, where we will meet at 11.00.
