Our Group Leader is  Mary Coates

We meet monthly on the third Thursday of the month:  The Art Appreciation group is an active group, of about fifteen members, which has visited many galleries and listened to interesting talks.

The venues for our meetings can be local or further afield e.g. The Winter Gardens, The Laing and the Mima; The Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle, York and London for a Leonardo da Vinci Exhibition.

Transport varies according to venue. We travel by car, Metro or train and we are a very informal group. Thursday is the most convenient day for the majority of our members and we aim to meet at 11a.m. on the Thursday after the U3A meeting. However, if a specific event or talk is held on another day this can vary.

Most of our members appreciate the group because, without it they wouldn’t find the time to visit all the exhibitions we enjoy.
