Just to remind you all, this year we would have celebrated our 10th Anniversary, in September in some style! Linda Broadbent baked and iced a wonderful anniversary cake for our party.

Gordon organised the lovely enamel 10th anniversary badges. There was also a party organised for the Anniversary Celebration at Dalton le Dale Parish Hall but this had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 restrictions.

From small beginnings when we held our monthly meetings at Martino’s to where we now reside at Dow House, we have achieved many things over the past 10 years and our membership has grown too. Most of us were strangers to one another in the early years but one of the most important benefits from our U3A is the friendships we have made over these years and not forgetting the fun and laughter. This past year has been tough with the COVID-19 pandemic affecting not just this country but the world. The feeling of isolation in not being able to meet up with our friends in our Monthly Meeting or our Groups, is made worse by the lockdowns and other measures. Some of us have had a couple of meetings here and there, the Photography Group and the Committee have had a Zoom meeting.

There is light at the end of the tunnel with this new vaccine and the ones in the pipeline, we will all have a better year in 2021, with eventually a normal life returning to us all.
