First of all, Happy New Year! We hope 2017 will be a good year for you all.

East Durham Artists network has a varied and full programme planned for the coming year and we do hope that you will be able to visit the Art Block and enjoy the work on show there, and participate in some of our workshops and other activities.

Our very popular ‘Stones and Bones’ exhibition about the history of old Seaham and its Anglo Saxon Church has been extended for one week. It will now show until noon,21stJ anuary. Do visit if you haven’t done so yet!

This exhibition will be followed in February by ‘Showcase’ which comprises work from the various workshops and groups that we have run to help people to learn new skills, such as lino printing, water colour painting, portraiture and book-making. In March we have ‘Shop Shape’.

To keep up-dated with events, please visit our Facebook Page: East Durham Artists’ Network (edan).

If you wish to join the network, you will be very welcome. Anyone who is enthusiastic about art and who would like to help establish and develop arts and culture in East Durham is invited to become a member. For £25.00 a year, you will benefit from access to our members’ exhibitions, a low rate for participation in our practical art workshops, the opportunity to work alongside and to learn with a variety of people with different artistic interests including painting, textiles, ceramics, writing, and photography, and the chance to influence the decisions of the network. You will also be invited to submit work for consideration for external exhibitions that are organised. For example, we are planning an Edan members’ exhibition in Stockton Library in November, and are working with the Uist Arts Association in the Outer Hebrides towards a joint exhibition on the subject of the sea, early in 2018.
