The Art Block will open only on an ad-hoc basis. The exhibition ’Tis the Season’ will remain in place, but  Art block will be used primarily for edan members’ workshops and meetings.

Members of the public welcome to visit when open.

North Sea

edan artists

This exhibition will focus upon our experience of the  North Sea – anywhere between Berwick and Scarborough.

It will include a display of sketchbooks. .

February 27th – March  25th

In the Footsteps of Eadfrith

edan artists.

Inspirationfor this exhibition will be taken from Medieval Manuscripts and the memory of Wearmouth and Lindisfarne as world centres of learning in the Anglo-Saxon period.

Mixed exhibition of work by edan members.

Seaham Glass and Bottleworks

This exhibition by edan members will cover the history of Seaham’s bottle-works and the present interest in the sea glass that is washed up on Seaham’s beaches as a result of the activity of the bottleworks.

August 28th –  September 22nd

Social Haunting

Edan writers are organising this exhibition developing insights from a series of  workshops led  by a group of researchers associated with Manchester Metropolitan University . The workshops  related to the ways in which de-industrialisation proceeded without reference to people’s identities and community feeling

September 25th – October 20th

Trees and Denes

Working in collaboration with ‘The Barn’ Easington, edan artists will participate in walks and workshops associated with the unique denes of East Durham.

October 23rd – November 17th

Armistice Centenary

Sunday November 11th will mark the centenary of the ending of the First World War. We shall plan a themed exhibition to correspond with the commemorative events that will be happening elsewhere.

November 20th – December 19th

Christmas Exhibition

The traditional edan Christmas sale.

External Exhibitions 2018:

April 2nd – 28th

‘In the footsteps of Eadfrith’ at Durham World Heritage Vistors’ Centre.

A selection of the work from the previous month’s Art Block exhibition will be shown at the Visitors’ Centre at the World Heritage Site.

July 24th – August 18th (dates to be confirmed)

‘Sea to Sea’ at Taigh Chearsabhagh (Lochmaddy Arts Centre, North Uist)
