On Tuesday 6th May nineteen Red Hatters made our way to York all dressed in our Red Hats and purple finery.  Lunch was booked at Jamie Oliver’s restaurant.  What a fantastic day we all had, first of all the weather was extremely kind to us and our lunch at Jamie Oliver’s restaurant was superb.  However, the highlight of our visit was the amount of people who came up to us and wanted to know why we were wearing red hats and purple outfits.   We met a number of people who had not heard of the U3A so we quickly brought them up to speed.  We had our photographs taken from visitors from America, Australia, Malaysia, China and France who were very keen to learn about the U3A and our Red Hatters group.  We also met some U3A ladies from Somerset who took our photographs and were to going to add this to their U3A Newsletter.   We ended our day by enjoying a refreshing cocktail in Bannyan’s Bar – where I think the young waiters looked stunned when we all trouped in.  A great day was had by all.
