Our last walk of the year started from the Scout Association car park near Moorhouse Woods. Down the farm track over the old railway line following the path into a small copse. Climbing our first stile we stepped down into a bit of a quagmire. This did not deter us, over another stile onto hard ground and over the motorway. Another stile down a few steps then into Moorhouse Woods. The fallen Autumn leaves really colourful. We stopped to admire the view and the river below then onwards down the numerous steps to river level.(I as a child had come down this descent on my hunkers about 65 years ago no steps then, to pick blackberries.)A flat path along the riverside made for easy progress a quick stop for a window biscuit compliments of Jean Mullen then onwards to our climb up from the river continuing through Rainton Park Woods to reach the road across the motorway. This time another stile let us access a drier crossing into the copse and back to our starting point. Excellent weather made this a most enjoyable outing
